Objects of Value
ad campaign, photography
Artfacts.net ranks artists according to their exhibition history. This print ad campaign or 2014 focusses on Artfacts.net’s unique method and asks the question: „What makes this an object of value?“ Iconic works of art by well-known artists such as Jeff Koons, Joseph Beuys, and Dan Flavin were copied and rudimentary, scaled-down imitations were produced and created. The campaign diverts attention away from the materiality of a work and implies that the answer to the question lies in an artist’s conceptual work, career, and attention received from institutions and curators. Sales, auction results and monetary value of a work do not enter into the equation.
