Pavillon Noir
Inauguration book
Ballet Preljocaj – Pavillon Noir, Editions Xavier Barral
Paris, France
2006
The plastically constructed book presents the “Pavillon Noir”, the national choreographic centre inaugurated in 2006 in Aix-en-Provence, France. On this occasion, the cineaste Pierre Coulibeuf realised a fiction, interpreted by the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj and his dancers, unveiling the sites of the Pavillon Noir. The book reprocesses the photographic material extracted from the film and integrates it into crossed interviews between the writer Éric Reinhardt, Pierre Coulibeuf, Angelin Preljocaj, the architect Rudy Ricciotti, the philosopher Jehanne Dautrey and the astrophysicist Michel Cassé. For all of them space and movement are important. These voices, printed on black bands, juxtapose and respond one another. 80 pages, French.
